Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-10· Effective October 10, 2026
The Short Version
FireCycles is a tool for documenting your ceramic work. Your pieces, recipes, firings, and photos are yours. We need a limited license to store and show them so the service can work. Don’t upload anything you don’t have the right to share, don’t abuse the service, and we will do our best to keep it running. The service is in beta, so expect rough edges.
1. Accepting These Terms
By creating an account or using FireCycles you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
2. Your Content and Our License
You keep full ownership of everything you upload or create on FireCycles: photos, videos, glaze recipes, firing logs, notes, and stories (“Your Content”).
So that we can operate the service, you grant FireCycles a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, resize, transcode, and display Your Content, solely for the purpose of providing the service to you and to the people you choose to share with. For content you mark public or unlisted, that includes displaying it to anyone who visits the public page or holds the share link.
This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except that cached or backup copies may persist for a short period until they are purged.
We will never sell Your Content, use it in advertising, or train AI models on it without your explicit opt-in.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to upload, share, or use FireCycles for:
- Content you do not own or have permission to share, including copyrighted photos or recipes published under restrictive terms
- Sexually explicit material, or any content that sexualizes minors
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or content targeting private individuals
- Malware, pirated software, or files that are not ceramic process documentation
- Using FireCycles as general-purpose file hosting or a content delivery network
- Automated account creation, scraping, or attempts to bypass rate limits, quotas, or access controls
- Anything that violates applicable law
We may apply per-account storage and upload limits. Those limits are shown in the app and may change as the service matures.
4. Copyright and Takedown Requests
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on FireCycles infringes your copyright, send a takedown notice to [email protected] with:
- A link to the content you believe is infringing
- A description of the work you own and proof of ownership
- Your contact information
- A statement, made in good faith, that the use is not authorized
We will review notices promptly, remove infringing content, and notify the uploader. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated. Uploaders may submit a counter-notice to the same address.
5. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, pose a security or legal risk, or abuse the service, with or without notice depending on severity. Where practical we will tell you why and give you a chance to export your data.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger zone. Deletion permanently removes your account, all database records, and all stored media.
6. Beta Service Disclaimer
FireCycles is in early beta and provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Features may change or be removed. We perform backups on a best-effort basis but cannot guarantee against data loss. Keep your own copies of recipes and records that matter to you; the Export feature in Settings makes that easy.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FireCycles and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including lost data, lost work, or kiln outcomes. Firing schedules and glaze chemistry shown in the app are informational and do not replace your own testing and judgment.
7. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app, and the version at the top of this page will change. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
